Decatur Law Firm Peters, Rubin, & Sheffield Selected as Defense Team for Alleged Shooter in Dunwoody Day Care Killing Case
Veteran criminal defense lawyers, Douglas N. Peters and Robert G. Rubin, of Peters, Rubin & Sheffield, have been selected as the defense team for the alleged shooter in the Dunwoody Day Care Killing case.
Hemy Zvi Neuman, 48, of Marietta, is charged with murder for the alleged killing of Russell “Rusty” Sneiderman November 18 outside of Dunwoody Prep after Sneiderman dropped off his 2-year-old son at the pre-school. Neuman was arrested January 4 and remains without bond in the DeKalb County Jail.
Doug Peters, founder of Peters, Rubin & Sheffield and past president of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, said he and Mr. Rubin look forward to gathering all of the facts and assisting Hemy Neuman in his defense. “In a case such as this that is already highly publicized, it is imperative that no one rush to judgment, and allow the legal process to run its course,” Peters said.
Bob Rubin, who is an adjunct professor of criminal litigation of Emory School of Law, said, “The death of Rusty Sneiderman is a tragedy, and our heart goes out to his family. Hemy Neuman has been an excellent employee and a loving father too, and we must be careful not to compound the tragedy.”
The investigation currently remains open. A preliminary hearing date has been scheduled for February 8, 2011 in the DeKalb County Magistrate’s Court.
