Doug Peters Asked to Moderate and Provide Analysis at First Georgia Public Defender Council Seminar on Defending a Child Sex Abuse Case

The Georgia Public Defender Council held their first seminar specifically designated to the defense of child sexual abuse cases at the State Bar of Georgia Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia on October 30, 2018. Doug Peters accepted the council’s invitation to help organize the council’s first seminar ever dedicated to these cases. Mr. Peters served as moderator, provided analysis following presentations by other speakers, and also lectured on “Expert Testimony-Preparation, Confrontation, and Presentation.”

Peters said “the seminar was a resounding success. The attendees submitted written questions which we promised to answer in a panel discussion at the end of the day. There were far more questions than we had time to answer at the seminar and therefore we followed up with written answers to all questions which were distributed to all attendees following the seminar. We also received personal thanks from several attendees who obtained not guilty verdicts in jury trials in the weeks following the seminar as they put into practice what they learned at the seminar.”
